On this, the season four premiere episode of the Could Be Better podcast, we catch up with Kenny Tompkins, otherwise known as Mr. Husband. Having been a stalwart of the local music scene for years – both in Frederick and in other locales across the fine state of Maryland – Tompkins was a co-founder of Yellow K records and his past projects include the very interesting, very fun New God duo, among other things. Here, Tompkins opens up about how his songwriting has changed through the years, what happened to his onstage persona that all but defined the band in its early years, his artistic process, self-doubt, the movie “Whiplash,” and, of course, what he likes to cook now that he is no longer a vegetarian.
